Background:
Janice Bock holds a BS in Business Management from the University of Arizona, Tucson, AZ. She is a self-taught artist,
but has participated in art classes and extensive independent study of the great masters and current artists. Janice
has participated in numerous art shows, galleries and juried shows receiving numerous awards. She is a member of Alpine
Artists, Rocky Mountain Artists, and Art Thing.
Artist's Statement
After years of extensive travels throughout the United States, in the year 2000 Janice and her husband chose to winter
in the majestic southwest setting of Mesa, AZ. For the summers they chose South Fork, CO. In 2004 they became full time
residents of South Fork.
Janice finds inspiration outdoors, on location, where she sits and observes, taking pictures and notes for reference material. Her work is received enthusiastically by galleries and is in the collection of individuals across the United States and Canada. She has been commissioned to do numerous paintings. Her extensive travels have given her opportunity to capture the beauty of this county and put it on canvas. She captures nature in both oil and acrylic paintings, primarily landscapes, wildlife and abstract paintings.
The majestic Rocky Mountains and the surrounding awesome scenery are constant inspiration for her current paintings. Abstract painting gives her the freedom to express her innermost feelings. She paints not only what she sees, but also what she thinks and feels about the experience of seeing it. Janice enjoys painting; it brings her in touch with nature, her feelings, and gives her peace and serenity.
She also paints on Christmas tree ornaments; makes welcome signs, key racks, glass and other items. She makes cards from photos of her paintings and decorative plates which are decorative and usable.
Plans
To create art as long as she lives, to capture and record our magnificent scenery, to use art to communicate and share
her experiences with the world, and fulfill her ambition as an artist.
As owner of the gallery, she strives to improve the gallery and constantly add new and different array of art work by local artists.
